Diffractive and Nonlinear Optics

The activities of the group cover: diffraction processes modelling in static and dynamic grating structures, diffractive optical elements design for optical imaging, computer-generated diffractive elements, high spatial frequency and artificially birefringent structures, resonant processes in diffraction gratings; study of photorefractive nonlinear optical material properties, and research of new optical phenomena in these materials; research and development of passive and active waveguides, ion-implanted waveguide lasers, selectively pumped solid state lasers; medical applications of lasers (laser lithotripsy, noninvasive photodynamic therapy); electronics for optical devices development (hardware and software).
