Research activity covers two areas both utilizing earlier gas laser studies and developments. The results are applied in biomedicine and laser technology as laser marking, micromachining of plastics, wood, ceramics, glass, titan, paper, alumina etc.

Interaction of laser radiation with tissue is studied. This biomedical research includes influence of laser radiation on the urocanic acid and its role in mechanism of immunosuppressive effects. Experiments are carried out in collaboration with Department of Ophthalmology of the Charles University, Prague and Institute of Molecular Genetics, Academy of Sciences.

Collaboration with Center of Biomedical Engineering, CTU and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering on laser thermokeratoplasty is starting and collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology of Charles University, Prague is going on.

Laboratory exploits equipment shared in the Prague Centre of Industrial X-ray Tomography and Laser Center Prague.

The group is in contact with the University of Göttingen, University of Hull and Saratov State University.
