The purpose of the project was to fulfill the conditions for establishing CTU Joint Center of Laser Technology.

The project is divided into two parts. One of these parts is based in the area of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Department of Manufacturing Technology and the second one in Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering Department of Physical Electronics.

This article describe the founding process of the Laser Technology Center. The aim of the Laser center is to enlarge R&D in the field of the laser technologies and further applications. It is founded in the cooperation of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Faculty of Transportation Sciences, Ministry of Industry and Trade and LAO s.r.o.

The financial resources where partly used for reconstruction of the room GIII-24 intended for installing laser technologies (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering).

Simultaneously the development of the workflow of technology of welding of radiation sources for medical application was finished at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The Certificate of Radioactive Source Integrity QCS 9905 was issued by The Inspectorate for Ionizing Radiation. It was developed UV laser technology of glass ampula drilling for Leciva,Inc. at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering.

The minor part of financial resources was used for software equipment.

Both branches deployed all planned devices for 1999 year and are prepared to follow Ministry of Industry and Trade grant for next two years.
